Tiger Woods Goes Online

The ultimate golfing game series, named after one of the greatest golfers in history, takes a new step is year; more than a big step, the series has gone up a whole flight of stairs. EA Sports have been bold and announced that the latest instalment in the series will be a browser-based, community game.

If you don’t have an internet connection (how are you reading this?) then go back to playing Solitaire, because Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online allows you to play online without downloading and installing; no disc, no scratches, and no disc repair fee. They seem  o be fixing all the problems, along with the rapidly growing popularity of Macs which have different software to Windows computers, meaning that some websites and applications do not work on Macs, such as EA Sports’s Game Face. PGA Tour Online allows you start a game of golf on a Windows at work, play a few holes, carry on with your busy schedule and finish the round on your Mac at home!

The main feature of Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online is that it is a great community that allows players to connect with each other through forums, personalized web-pages and unsurprisingly play against each other. And with the frequent updates you will always find something new to talk about; I man except the high standard graphics, replicating the greatest courses around the world exactly.

Make The Cut

Another feature that I like about the game is its target system, which gives a player their own individual target to achieve everyday and if they manage to make that target then they will be awarded with bonus experience points which can be used to improve your player’s skills and unlock items in the Pro Shop. Sounds pretty basic, but there’s more: using the community roots of thegame, players can become fans and sponsor each other, which seems like a pretty lame way of making friends online, but it will pay off when you get experience points because someone you sponsored hit their target.

There are also many other ways to gain experience, such as connecting to Facebook and getting people to become fans, which is a simple way to quickly afford that shiny new driver you’ve been eyeing up.

I think that this could be a great game for golfing fans, especially in the older bracket as they can squeeze games in to fit work, without having to download or carry around a disc – it could truly be the next internet craze (although Bejeweled has just been updated!).
